Biggs’s Story
Over a year ago, a couple came out to tour our sanctuary with the thought of surrendering their two bonded Kentucky Mountain geldings. At that point, the weren’t ready, but the owners reached out in June of 2025 to resurrect that idea.
Because one of the owners has serious health issues, these handsome fellas, Biggs and his pasture pal, Stormy, needed to find a new residence and we were their only choice for a new home because they were so impressed with On Golden Rescue. The owners also rested in Biggs and Stormy will be here forever together. We are one of the rare sanctuaries who can sometimes take bonded pairs and we’ve done that for several of our current residents. When other rescues say no, we can say yes if there’s room and staff coverage.
Biggs is the larger of the two; gentle and easy-going he, like Stormy, loves people and is affectionate. They both LOVE to trail ride, which is what this breed is known for! The owners were very enthusiastic about that continuing and both are healthy and young enough to keep doing that for years to come.
The prior owners donated all their custom tack, and other horse paraphernalia, as well as giving us a generous check and even a 50’ round pen that’s movable for usage here at On Golden Rescue.
Thank you, Kat and Dave, for believing in us for your sweet horses!
