Large Animal Sanctuary Looks to Provide Forever Homes

A husband-and-wife team leads On Golden Rescue.

On Golden Rescue, a nonprofit large animal sanctuary, is proud to announce its feature in the Astoria Newspaper’s recent article titled “Large Animal Sanctuary Looks to Provide Forever Homes.” The heartwarming piece highlights the inspiring journey of On Golden Rescue and its mission to provide forever homes to a variety of animals in need.

Tucked away in the serene corner of Birkenfeld, On Golden Rescue occupies a sprawling 14-acre farmland. This peaceful sanctuary is home to 15 very special residents, including goats, miniature ponies, retired horses, and one stout donkey. The sanctuary was founded by the passionate team of Larry Boxman, Gayle-Rich Boxman, Hailey Palmore, Angela Roache, and Marianne Berg, who have dedicated their lives to the welfare of these majestic creatures.

On Golden Rescue’s journey began in 2014 when their first resident, Pearl, a palomino mare, was surrendered by an overwhelmed acquaintance. The Boxmans, driven by their deep love for animals, opened their hearts and their land to provide the loving care that Pearl needed. This compassionate act marked the beginning of On Golden Rescue’s remarkable journey towards becoming a beacon of hope for animals in need.

The feature article, which can be read in its entirety here, delves into the heartwarming stories of the animals at On Golden Rescue, shedding light on the incredible work being done to provide them with safe, nurturing, and permanent homes. Readers will be touched by the dedication and unwavering commitment of the Boxmans and their team.

Larry Boxman, Co-Founder of On Golden Rescue, shared his thoughts on the feature, saying, “We are thrilled and honored to have the Astoria Newspaper showcase our mission and the incredible stories of the animals we care for. Our sanctuary is built on love, compassion, and the belief that every animal deserves a forever home. We hope this article inspires others to join us in our cause.”

On Golden Rescue extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Astoria Newspaper for recognizing their dedication to animal welfare and for helping spread awareness of their mission. The sanctuary encourages everyone to read the article, share it with friends and family, and consider supporting their noble cause.
