On Golden Rescue is a small, donor-supported sanctuary, and we treat the information you share with us the same way we treat our animals: with care. This policy explains what we collect when you visit ongoldenrescue.org, donate, shop, volunteer or get in touch, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We only collect what we need to process your donation or order, answer your message, or run a program you signed up for.
- We never sell, trade or rent your personal information.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal. Your full card number never touches our website.
- You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time, and you can ask us to update or delete your information.
1. Who we are
On Golden Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit large animal rescue and sanctuary in Birkenfeld, Oregon (EIN 88-0536178). When this policy says “we,” “us” or “OGR,” it means On Golden Rescue. It covers ongoldenrescue.org, including our online store, donation forms and event and tour sign-ups.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Donations: your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, donation amount and frequency, and any dedication or “in honor of” details you add.
- Shop orders: your name, contact details, billing and shipping addresses, and what you ordered. If you create an account, we also keep your login details and order history.
- Forms and sign-ups: whatever you choose to share when you contact us, apply to volunteer, book a tour or field trip, register for an event, ask about surrendering an animal, or join our newsletter.
- In-kind gifts: a description of donated items and their value, so we can send you a receipt for your tax records.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours automatically receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your browser type, device, approximate location (from your IP address), the pages you view and how you arrived at our site. See Cookies and analytics for more.
3. How we use your information
- Process donations and send receipts and acknowledgments for your tax records
- Fulfill and ship shop orders, and send order confirmations and updates
- Respond to your questions and requests, and coordinate volunteers, tours, field trips and events
- Send our newsletter and news about the animals, if you’ve signed up (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Understand how people use our website so we can improve it
- Protect our website and forms from spam, fraud and abuse
- Meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations as a nonprofit
4. Donations and payments
Card payments for donations and shop orders are processed securely by Stripe or PayPal. Your card details go directly to them, and we never see or store your full card number. For monthly gifts, the payment processor keeps your payment method on file so your recurring donation can continue, and you can cancel at any time by contacting us.
We keep a record of each gift (your name, contact details, amount and date) so we can thank you, send tax receipts and keep accurate nonprofit financial records.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the sanctuary and this website, and only as much as they need to do that work. They are required to keep it confidential and protect it.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our animals, volunteers, visitors or the public.
6. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files your browser stores to help a website work. We use them to keep your shopping cart and account login working, to protect our forms from spam, and to understand how visitors use our site through Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, some parts of the site, such as the cart and checkout, may not work properly.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Donation and order records are kept as long as required for tax, accounting and legal purposes. If you unsubscribe from our emails, we keep just enough information to make sure you don’t receive them again.
8. Keeping it secure
We use appropriate safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection across our entire website. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect the information you trust us with.
9. Your choices and rights
- Access and update: ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, or to correct it. If you have a shop account, you can update your details on the My Account page.
- Delete: ask us to delete your information. We’ll do so unless we need to keep it for legal or tax reasons, such as donation records.
- Opt out: use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails, or contact us and we’ll take you off our list.

10. Children
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Field trips and youth visits are arranged through a parent, guardian, teacher or group leader. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date at the top.
